Temperament

The Maine Coon is a sweet-tempered breed that tends to be attentive and easy-going. Most Main Coons are lively and friendly, becoming incredibly devoted companions for their owners. Usually excellent with children and other pets, they are well known as a very intelligent breed that can even be taught to fetch, open doors and walk on leads.

Weight

Maine Coons are a naturally large cat that can be prone to weight gain which can be hard to spot under their heavy coat. It is important to watch their diet to avoid obesity.

Muscles & Joints

The Maine Coon is a heavily boned, muscular cat with substantial limb strength. This size and shape means they benefit from having a diet that helps protect their muscles and joints from added stress and strain – especially if they are highly active.

Skin & Coat

The luxurious, shaggy coat and tufted paws and ears of the Maine Coon reflects their background as farm cats – bred to deal with Maine’s harsh winter weather conditions. Although their coat is long, the silky and oily texture of the Maine Coon coat means it doesn’t tangle easily, which makes it much easier to look after and groom than other longhaired breeds. A diet high in amino acids, vitamins and fatty acids is ideal to help your Maine Coon maintain its mean coat as well as keep their skin healthy.

Kitten

Up to 15 months old

During their growth period, the Maine Coon’s digestive system remains immature and continues developing gradually over several weeks. An exclusive combination of nutrients helps support the young kitten’s digestive health and contribute to good stool quality. Highly digestible proteins and an adapted fibre content including psyllium and prebiotics promote a balanced intestinal flora.

Natural Defences

Helps support the kitten’s natural defences, thanks to an antioxidant complex and prebiotics including mannan-oligo-saccharides (MOS) which helps remove pathogenic bacteria from the gut and stimulate the local immune response.

Energy needs

Meets the high energy needs of kittens during their growth period.
