Puppies love to chew – especially when they are teething. The problem is when they start chewing something important like a shoe, a cushion or maybe even you. To train your puppy not to bite, start by giving them plenty of chew toys. If they start chewing the wrong thing, substitute with a chew toy. When they switch to chewing that, praise them and reward them with a dog treat. You’ll find a huge range of puppy chews at most pet stores. You can also use old, worn out clothes tied into knots. Remember that the more chew toys you have in the house, the safer your shoes and socks will be and the less likely they will gnaw on you.
